With coffee-stained teeth, calloused hands and frequently smelling of sweat, daily they appear among us. They never seem to lack, even though 70 percent and more of their wages are forfeited to the crown for redistribution amongst the poor of the land. They are a threat and a menace to the decent, perfumed and manicured, gentile and restive class. They are the working rich.
First to rise in the morning, it is as if some foreign power urges them to leave the warmth of bed earlier than the rest of men. Perhaps it is the urge to acquire resources for themselves that motivates the working rich. Whatever it is, it is an odd thing that men would choose to forfeit free cable tv, free apartments, free groceries, and endless entertainment and provide their own instead, bought with the struggle of their own puny disfigured hands!
And what is to be done about the working rich? To the great credit of the authorities much progress has already been made in defeating their efforts at independent success. Licensing, regulatory requirements and heavy taxation have defeated some of them, but there are still others who insist on building there own little "empires" in direct defiance of the state, our wonderful Provider and Protector.
Perhaps some re-education program could be initiated to restore them to their rightful place in society, freely taking part in the benefits of the redistribution of plenty. After all, society in the west has risen to the point where no one really needs to physically work! It is enough to leave that to the Chinese and other "emerging markets".
Of course, some resistance will be met, but that is easily overcome with governmental force. Then the land will be completely free and at rest, with the population centralized and the working rich finally helped into a socially integrated lifestyle of doing what the most have opted for, namely the consumption of resources provided for by the state and our magnificent overlords.
But In the meantime it seems we will have to endure more years of tolerating the unsettling activities of the working rich.
